Chelsea Scout Jorge Alvial to FCD?

The FC Dallas coaching staff will soon be adding a new member. The the team is in talks with Jorge Alvial - currently Chelsea's Chief Scout for North, Central, and South America. We're expecting to finalize a deal done with Jorge this week so that he can meet us in Florida for the MLS Combine this upcoming weekend...

Just a bit on Jorge.

His ties to our club began a few years ago, when he helped coordinate the team's preseason trips to Chile. He has served in various roles in international soccer, including as an assistant coach and National scout for Universidad Catolica in Chile, as head coach of the Puerto Rico Islanders, and of course recently as the main scout for the English Premier League's Chelsea for this hemisphere.

One interesting note, he told us about the most recent player he's helped identify for Chelsea: 18-year Argentine forward Franco di Santo who is expected to be moving from Audax Italiano in Chile's top division to Chelsea.

wow! laying the ground work to be a top-notch organization. for all the knocks we've given the management, we've gotta give them some props if this goes thru.

This guy's done a lot of job hopping which makes me nervous.

He wasn't wtih the PR Islanders very long before he jumped to Chelsea.

He hasn't even been with Chelsea a full year & he's jumping ship again...? Was Chelsea pushing him out? Why?

I am intrigued...regardless of his time with Chelsea...you have think this guy has some quality and can certainly help us identify talent.

I'm really interested to see where this goes. I'm a little concerned about the job hopping and the move from Abramovich's deep pockets to a team owned by HSG, yet at the same time there's gotta be something to the guy if Chelsea hired him in the first place

job hopping is football

Wow! this is amazing!
he's been with chelsea for 2 years! i dont know what you guys are talking about! (do more research!) and he's also scouted players like Humberto Suazo and Mark Gonazalez! and he brought the Boca Juniors IDOL "Guillermo Barros Schelotto" to the Columbus Crew! :O this guy is good!
I think this is a big jump for FC Dallas! :) this is great!

most connected guy in Latin America......period. a half dozen of the MLS teams have made a play for him in a bid to tap the Latino market. Great pick up for us if we can close the deal.

I got a good laugh out of the guy questioning this move because he left the Puerto rico Islanders for Cheslea after just a short time with them. Yeah sure turn down a premier league team for the Islanders, ask Colin Clarke which job he would want

Jorge might've joined Chelsea with the intent of working with Mourinho, and then when Roman pushed Mourinho out...

Besides Maurinho leaving, nothing changed in Chelsea no scouts or anything were kicked out, everything remained the same.
lets go Jorge!!

We keep getting the unemployed guys, are we that low a league that anyone can find work?

mourinho is unemployed but we probably wouldn't want him. Klinsman is unemployed but we probably wouldn't want him.

What are you talking about?

Did some digging on some old soccer america articles and it seems Jorge has found some gems:

Humberto Suazo - leading scorer in the world last year
Mark Gonzalez - former liverpool
Jonny Walker - former US National Team
Jorge Vargas - Serie A player

Bring us more Juan Toja's!!!! but leave the Denilsons at home!!

We are that low a league compared to Chelsea.

Just for the record..
I got my info from a british agent that Jorge still has another year contract with Chelsea, so i definatly dont think he is unemployed.

Interesting take.

Sigi Schmidt tried to get Jorge on his coaching staff 2 years ago in Columbus and reportedly his asking price to come was too high - evidently FC Dallas has more pull with HSG.

Gee, Columbus wants the guy and HSG can't afford it. Dallas wants him and the story changes. Go figure.

Davino, Alvial,......what next. All I know is they better lock up Toja and I wouldn't mind one more striker.

Im sure Alvial will bring one striker ;)

I was fortunate enough to coach goalkeepers with Jorge Alvial 3 years ago. He is very knowledgeable and more importantly an honest man. Dallas and FC Dallas are very lucky to have a man like Jorge.
