WHO?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Question for those of you in the know! Are the bench players decided on a game to game basis? Or is the team definitely divided into first team and reserves? Thanks...new to being a really informed MLS team fan!

by the time they come here they will be back in Bundesliga first division.

The bench is a game by game decision of the manager.

Gladbach is currently in BL2 but is leading it and will be promoted. They are a good club with a proud history and a fantastic stadium. They have a player or two that played for Germany06 (I think Neuville was a starter) and a very prolific striker up top.

We all agree it would be incredible if it was Bayern Munich, but this is still great. I don't care if it's a European team that is being promoted back to the top flight, just got relegated to the 2nd division, or is a mid-table team, it's still great to see. They could have Bolton visit and it would still be a good deal.

This is fantastic for MLS, the Rapids, and FC Dallas and I will be there.

Keller also played there for a couple of years.

This should be a great game!

'Gladbach arrive in the US on July 13th and will be here for 10 days. supposedly they will be in CO first though.

Good question about bench and our 'not ready for prime time players' the other day. I'm retired and watch a lot of the practices and reserve games. Morrow has a guy, #2 Dello-Russo,who is really impressive. He always stands out in practice and the reserves but we never get to see him play. Looked into his background and it's pretty impressive. Seems very mature on the ball and is very fast. Played good D/1 for strong school and had a lot of assists and sounds/looks very capable. If Morrow isn't going to play him, which is beyond what I can see most days, he should just accept players that can't keep the ball, can't make intelligent passes, and can't chase someone down. The bad part is this kid will probably go somewhere else and we'll wonder how he got so good all of a sudden.

The answer to the question about the bench and reserves is yes & yes. The bench players are decided by the manager for each game. The team is also divided into a Senior Roster (18 players) and a developmental roster (10 players). The developmental roster is generally considered to be the "reserve team" although those on the senior roster can appear in reserve games and developmental players can appear in MLS games.

Thanks for your informed answers about the bench players! I've asked before how Avila is doing. He's young and small, but I've seen him play and he's very game smart and moves the ball well. Hopefully he'll get some actual mls game time at some point!

I'm psyched about M'Gladbach. A Bundesliga.2 team is probably better competition than CAP or Tigres. Comparable, at the very least. It will give our guys a real test, and it will be against a very different style of play than either CAP or Tigres.
