Josh had successful surgery on Tuesday to repair the jaw fractures. He's expected to be released from the hospital later in the afternoon.Meanwhile, Ray Burse was back at practice this morning on the adidas Field at PHP. He'll return to Portland for a preseason game this weekend, before flying to Houston on Saturday afternoon to be available for Sunday's game between FCD and Houston.
One of the options the team is considering is the newly introduced rule for Short-Term Injury Replacement (Letter K):
A team with a player who has a short-term injury can replace that player on its roster, while remaining responsible for the full amount of the injured player's salary. A player can be placed on the short-term injured reserve list once another player has been signed as a replacement. Note that the injured player will have to sit out a minimum of six (6) MLS League matches before he can rejoin the team's roster. International player limits still apply at the time a short-term replacement is made (with the player being replaced not counting against those limits).

Wow, Ray will be busy -- stay healthy, Ray!
And get well soon, Josh! :(
Calling Dan Kennedy....
Fortunately GK's in the USA are a dime a dozen and we will be fine. Obviously we all wish the young guy a full and speedy recovery.
I can see it now: Lambo in the hospital bed with his jaw wired shut mumbling, "Put me in coach. I don't need my jaw to play." Get well soon, man.
I can join. I'm a young, promising goalie from sweden. I was in the U20 All Star Team at age 17.
when was that, 15years ago? j/k
Shaka Hislop anyone? :)
in all seriousness, please send along our best wishes to josh to a full & speedy recovery.
this has to be rough way to start out your MLS career, but you'll be back before you know it.
keep your chin up, man
[no pun intended] ;)
more updates!!!
GK's in the USA are a dime a dozen but SKILLED and EXPERIENCED keepers are almost impossible to come by in this country. If they're decent they go across the pond.
Still, we can probably (I hope) find someone with a good enough combination of skill and experience to be our backup for a couple of months without depriving Ray of first team playing time with a professional club.
I still think we should get Kennedy than Burse.
Kennedy was one of the best GK's in Chile, he has a lot more experience than Burse.
