Soccer Balls to Iraq

Today, we shipped over 350 soccer balls to Iraq on behalf of former FC Dallas employee and friend, Peter Burks. The 26-year old Burks was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army when he was killed by a roadside bomb while on duty in Baghdad, Iraq last November.

Two weeks before his death, he had emailed our front office asking if we could help him with a campaign to provide soccer balls to children in Iraq. A special thanks to all the fans that donated soccer balls to this cause. Another thanks to Bill Martin at the U.S. Post Office, who spent over three hours this morning getting the boxes ready to be shipped.

This is neither the place nor the time for political rants. Especially anonymous ones. Great to see the FO helping out a worthy cause. The kids in Iraq are just kids in a bad situation. A little football can go a long way towards restoring normality. I vote for pre-season friendlies against Iraqi club teams. Bring them to America and show them how hospitable Americans can really be.
