FCD 1, Chicago 0

UPDATED (postgame): FCD today extended it's home undefeated streak versus Chicago to 11 consecutive games (10-0-1)...the last time Chicago won in Dallas was last century - on July 4, 1999 at the Cotton Bowl.

Kenny Cooper has now played in four games against Chicago, and he's scored in all four...this was his third game-winning goals against the Fire.

Recap, boxscore, highlights, etc at fcdallas.com.

(2:15 pm) It's hot out here today, temps reaching past 100 degrees down on the field before kickoff. FCD lines up in a 3-1-4-2 today, with Pablo Ricchetti again in the role in front of the three defenders. Not that we get into formations much, just thought we'd point out how the team drew it up.

Cooper did it again! I told yall he would be the key this season! He 100% deserves a spot on the US National team; no questions asked.

Decent breeze whipping through the Oven today, saved me from a heat stroke.

Of course, I will always complain about the ref action, but today they didn't even bother to pay attention.

Good service from the midfield, decent work from the back line. I'm waiting for Coop & Dominic to get in sync. There was a few times they could have worked together, but seemed a bit anxious on the next move.

Either way, a good win to put us back on track.

Good win, but what knucklehead schedules an afternoon match in the summer in Dallas. Also, scheduling a match on a World Cup qualifer day????? Someone at MLS needs to get a clue regarding scheduling.

Big kudos to the team for beating 12 players.

great job guys! about the qualifer, the usa beat barbados 8-0 not suprising.

I know the heat makes you feel like you are going to pass out; I dont know how the players do it. I feel drained and all I was doing is cheering. Go FC Dallas!!

Nice win today! I thought Toja finally looked in good form... think he might have a late season revival? Dax provided a huge spark when he came in at end and the ref completely blew that PK call in the 80th min.

"They may take our lives, but they will never take, OUR FREEDOM! -Kenny Cooper?

It was clear from the start of the game that Cooper was not going to let his team or his fans be embarrassed again. He dominated the first 17 minutes, and I thought that he had to be out of gas. He was still making plays in the 32nd minute, and I thought they would have to sub him at the half. He came out strong in the second half and almost scored again in the 52nd minute. He never gave up or looked to be bothered by the heat or the work load. The only thing he lacked in this match was blue face paint and a kilt.

Good game for Coop but he showed SELFISHNESS when in a breakaway did not pass to Toja who was screaming for the ball. Next play, same thing, this time the other Dallas player was wide open, Coop took the shots anyway. Selfish, selfish..... Good for him his goal stood.

Great Win! Great to see Dallas playing attractive, possession soccer with some short 1-2s and very few speculative long balls. Great job by the hoops. Toja looked better, Oduro was dangerous all day long, and the D didn't let allow too many shots.

Kenny Cooper has the finishing touch that our Men's National Team needs...Bob Bradley, I hope you Tivoed this game; Call Kenny up now!!!

we're burnt & tired, but very happy -- the frozen margaritas & a quick trip at the half to the VWC saved us ;)

what's up with artie? he seemed to sit back the entire game...few challenges, no pressure, no speed (not that he's ever been fleet of foot but geesh...!) get in the game

two words: clone rocha :)

feels good to have our guys back in the over & kicking chicago's arse again. it's also great to see DAX MAN back on the pitch.

REALLY REALLY looking forward to evening games lol!

Kenny Cooper is the epitome of class. The guy deserves all of the credit in the world for this win, and instead when he's asked at half-time why the Hoops were playing so well, he gave much of the credit to Dario Sala. He said Sala is such a leader to the team and had some inspiring words for the guys before the game that fired them all up. Coop, don't listen to the haters. You are a selfless individual who doesn't have a conceited bone in yout body. This fan loves you, just like I have to imagine your teammates do as well.

I guess the haters stayed home on this one. I have been saying for a few weeks now that a bump up in form is coming, and I think more people will believe me after this one. The number of shot opportunities continues to increase, and I think we are really starting to get some good passing combinations. A few guys still are not on board with the rest and may find themselves competing for a spot once the new coach brings in someone during the transfer window. We aren't quite there but I think we will be soon. Great win - Go Hoops!!!

Same old Brimstone - Dallas winning!

Rocha is the 2007 Toja. His play throughout the year has continued to improve. Toja just needs to get in 90 minute shape. I thought Dallas was never going to use their last sub. Toja was feeling the heat the last 15 minutes of the game but was still able to create when he had the ball at his feet. Great possession at the end of the game. Instead of going for goal, ala Houston, they killed almost 2 minutes by just taking the ball to the corners & switching the field.
Great lineup to start the game. I expect to see Dax in place of Saragosa next game & Serioux should be back at his left back spot. I believe we can be better.
Great game considering the conditions. Most games in 100 degree weater are very boring. Not this one.
Go Hoops,
Carlos

I got heat stroke just from watching this game from the comfort of my own home! I'm just curious who scheduled a 2 PM game in the middle of June in Texas. Great win, but come on, let's make the health of BOTH squads a priority here. Granted, our boys might used to the heat, but let's keep in mind the number of teams across the league that train and play in this type of weather. Not many I'd reckon. I don't want to see anyone on any team collapse out on the pitch.

its good to win finally. but where was bobby? they should have played him!

I hate to be negative but Cooper will never get a spot in the US national team if he continues with his style of play. Yes he got a goal in but SELFISH, SELFISH he is. Oduro and other team mates all gave him several good passes and all he had to do was pass it back to them again but no, he would rather shoot into the goalies hand.
Yes he deserve praises for the goal but he needs to be a team player.

my god the heat! I almost passed out too but Im really happy about the win. Dallas is looking better and better.

Cooper cannot make the MNT....he's not that good, but good enough for MLS. He has no touch around the goal and plays with his head down

Rocha is a stud
Wagner is most improved this year
Toja is coming around
Keep-away at the end was great
Blanco is a cry-baby
Artie should probably just leave if he's not going to try

I thought the boys played pretty well . It was great to see Dax back, he looked a little rough at first but once he settled you could tell that we missed him. Now that Rocha is in his better position outside, we can have Dax played his center middie position. Wagner looked pretty good in the back, wouldn't mind moving to a 4-4-2 , and keep him back there and put drew in the middle.

Good win!!! When we do not play BOBBY RHINE we win. Thats just the truth. The midfield play was good as was the defense. Oduro was awesom taking on players at speed. Too bad he couldnot sneak one in. Yes, Cooper did score a goal but in no way possible does he deserve to be on the MNT. No way!! Those of you that think that do not want our National Team to do anything in South Africa. Hopefully this new coach will see we need to improve in a few positions!

It was good to get a win at home. who makes this kind of schedule? you do not want to play a game in summer at 2pm in texas, USA was playing right after FCD game Someone needs to get fired at main office in NY.
By the way the heat gave us much advantage Chicago players could not handle it!! let's take advantage of this weather.
good job Marco a very good line up

great effort by the boys. Cooper is way better than ching. Id hate to lose copper for nats duty but if ching gets the call why not cooper? The way Cooper took on the defenders was pure quality. Made the fire look stupid. Where is Alverez? Really if he continues to give no effort i dont want him here. Great play from Rocha if he can get a few goals himself id say he could be player of the year.
Got to love Dom.
Blake is looking good. I like him in the left back position, mabe let our canadian friend play in the midfield where he likes it.
Good D moore and DD i thnk were pretty solid.
Great to see Dax on the pitch.
And one last thing to the Front office. Tell your event staff to back off the fans. Every game they treaten to kick out fans who are being vocal. We need more loud fans and being threatned to be removed by event staff every game is not going to incourage me to renew my season tickets
DALLAS TILL I DIE

Good game by KCJ, although partially overshadowed by selfishness that would have given him at least 2 assists - one to Oduro, one to Toja (though a tough pass) - to go with his goal.

A few more games together and I think they become a tandem to deal with. If Alvarez starts focusing, and we are + Dax - Saragosa...then maybe, just maybe, we have something starting here.

Cooper deserves a spot on the national team! I'm not saying that just cuz he plays for Dallas either! I dont care who he plays for; he deserves a spot on the MNT. With DUMB players like Brian Ching, Josh Wolff, Pablo "freakin idiot" Mastroeni, and Carlos "dumb@ss" Bocanegra on the MNT: KENNY COOPER definately DESERVES A SPOT ON THE MNT!!!!!!!!! If you think otherwise; you dont know much about futbol'.

I completely agree that we played at a much better level yesterday. I thought Wagner looked great at left back, and I especially liked the formation when Alvarez came off, we played with 4 in the back, and Dax at central midfield. I think the new staff probably didn't miss that.

Great game. I thought the team played well and held their form throughout. Cooper has very good shooting form. Much better than Ching, who is basically a battering ram around the goal. The last two goals of Cooper's show great finesse. I like to stay positive about change (seeing as it is inevitable). I wish the new coach the best of luck. I want to thank the current coaching staff for not just throwing in the towel during this transition period.

GO HOOPS!

Skeeter said...

Good Call Diddy. I noticed that as well, and liked the way the team adjusted. Thats just smart coaching to pack it in and go to 4 in the back when trying to close out a game like that.

I think it is time to see Dax in the CAM when he is ready to start again.

I think that Ching is a Brian McBride type of player for the USNT, just there in front of the net. I will agree that Cooper deserves a chance more than Wolfe... that guy is worthless
