More on Ray...

Even though Ray Burse has technically been away this season, his FCD teammates always make him feel like he's been here all along, noticed by the jokes and banter when they are around - and really, he's been with the team for half the games now, anyway...

Two weeks ago, he stopped by FCD practice while on a layover, crossing from Miami to Portland. The FCD TV crew caught up with Ray for a sit down interview. We were hoping to put the video up right away, however, the next day we had the coaching change...and then, we had the three quick games, so we didn't have a chance to put the video up...so, while it may be a bit dated, here's Ray talking about his experience to date...(Thanks to Mark Kostic at the Timbers for his help with the highlights).

for those that haven't checked out his stats in USL, you need to.

i know its different level of competition but 6 Clean Sheets in 10 games is good in any level.

i hope he continues to learn from the playing experience and we can see him in goal permanently soon.

What's the reason for the Ray Burse P.R. campaign? Are we trying to trade him? No offense, but I would much prefer an interview with Dax on his preparations for the Olympics and how he's recovering, or a feature on somebody who's a player full-time on our team. This Ray Burse hype shows the fans that the FO has basically scrapped this season.

Why do you let people write horrible things about Bobby Rhine and other players, but delete anything that remotely criticizes Burse?

Ray Burse PR Campaign?

Geez FCD puts up more video content about their players than anyone else in the league and suddenly it's a PR campaign?

Some people will complain about anything.

I have to assume FCD knows what a fragile psyche Ray Burse has. That's why they shipped him off to Portland, to get his confidence back. Burse himself admitted he was playing poorly in the beginning of the season. There's no other reason they would leave almost cruel commentary about some players and delete anything less than glowing about Burse.

Interesting story about the Portland Timbers. Seems like there's trouble in paradise for Ray Burse. According to ESPN soccernet "There have been a few shaky moments for the new Timbers goalie." I guess his recent shutouts don't tell the whole story. The team seems to be missing last year's keeper Josh Wicks, who's now the back-up in L.A. Looks like it would be easy for us to get Burse Back.
