MH
P.S. I agree . . . please stay!!!
Ok...Socal Avi Fan here! I'm really stupid about this transferring stuff and not afraid to admit it! Help me out here, is the transfer all about the money? Can Dallas offer him more to get him to stay? Or is it all about getting closer to the Premier league? Thanks guys for your patience! I think if they can, FCD should fight to keep him. He dominated my Galaxy yesterday! Oh...and go Avi! hahaha
Avi Fan,
There are three levels of "all about the money" to deal with in MLS.
MLS owns all of the players contracts and makes (I believe 2/3's) of any transfer fee, and the team gets 1/3. So if they sell Cooper for $3 million then MLS gets $2 mill. and FCD gets $1 mill.
After you get past the league and the team, then the player has to come to contract terms with the new team. Almost any league in the world can afford to pay Cooper more then FC Dallas can because of the MLS salary cap restraints, but I do not think it is all about the money for Cooper. Dirk Nowitzki could have made good money playing basketball in Germany but to play at the highest level in the world he had to come to the USA. It's the same for Cooper; the plane just flys the other direction in soccer.
stay kenny!
PAY THE MAN!!!
He deserves DP type money. At least offer it to him. If he rejects it and decides to play in Europe its understandable, but at least put something serious on the table.
Congrats Coop!
DP Cooper!
He deserves at least the Landon Donovan 900,000 range if not more. This guy has a phenomenal ahead in his career.
the player also gets a portion of the transfer fee. i believe it is 10%. and I think that the team get the larger portion rather than the league.
Word from SBI is FCD will reject both offers for Coop.
I probably don't ubderstand how these things work, but instead of forcing him to stay, why dont we give him a deal where he'll want to stay. Seems like moral will be low if he is forced to stay. although I think it will be harder on Toja.
Thanks for your insights and information. I am happy for you guys he's staying around for a while! Not so good for us galaxy fans though! Sign me "socal Avi fan"!!
