FCD Trades Arturo Alvarez

We had the sense this may be a busy week - late this afternoon, we completed a trade that send Arturo Alvarez to the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for allocation money and their first round pick in the 2009 SuperDraft, which was originally Houston's - acquired last week in exchange for forward Kei Kamara.

Artie was here for three and a half seasons, playing in 85 regular season game and scoring 11 goals with 11 assists. We wish him well (except when he plays Dallas, of course).

good riddance - he's been a lazy malcontent all year.

I still hate to see him go. The kid has talent...probably had people talking in his ears..

artie seems lazy to me. he lost his spot and didn't seem to fight for it. instead, he seems as if he's content on just pouting about it. you've got to earn your time, artie...they just can't give it to you b/c you were on the U23's.

he's got talent, but laziness makes talented people average.

Maybe this will reignite his play...if so, good for him. It sure wasn't happening here though. I think FCD comes out WAY ahead with the draft pick, especially after the Guarda signing.

One foot? Could never find the other one.

SH: This is your stop kid, get off the bus!

AA: aw shucks! I was just about to learn to use the other foot!

I don't think we ever got to see everything he was capable of, and I wish him the best, but I think we did a good job with this trade.

first time I think that I have ever laughed out loud from reading a blog post.

artie has talent, but seemed to sulk on the field rather than control it, which he is capable of. he has done it in the past, but seemed to act selfish on the pitch this year. so disappointed to lose a talent like that but as a tool pusher on "black gold" said, "you can be the best at what you do, but if you don't come to work then you ain't sh!t".

Adios, amigos!

Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard.

Good luck AA!

Ever since he got that new contract, he seemed to of lost interest... go figure

at least he had a very sweet pass/assist in his last game here. best of luck to him. he has the skills, needs to get his head right, sometimes something like this is just the thing a player needs.

Lots of $$ being opened up, esp. if Toja goes, to throw at Cooper to get him to say or to find a top-notch replacement if/when he goes.

LOL last year i got raped on here for suggesting how overrated and selfish he was.

then we will unrape you

"then we will unrape you"

quality!

i expect to see the dutchman later in the week...the feels like a plan in the works...or let's hope.

good luck artie.

Wow - what a terrible article in D Magazine about the Inferno!

While I am not against the Dutch Boy on his own merrits, I am against bringing in the Dutc Boy to play on the left side. THE LAST THING THIS TEAM NEEDS IS MORE GUYS PLAYING OUT OF POSITION! Keep shoping and find a quality player for the left side. I am only for bringing in Dutch Boy if the plan is to play him on the right side and move Rocha to right back.

I can't believe that they would print that article. I thought D Magazine had some class.

Buzz has a good link to the D Magazine article if that is what you want to call it.

I'm sure Arturo will mis the classy fans in Dallas. Not.

GOOD !

I thought the article in D Magazine painted a nicer picture than most fans have of the Inferno. Anyone that has had an opportunity to go to their forum will realize there is nothing but drama and people that make excuses for their behavior. No thanks, you don’t have to sit in a supporters section to be considered a true fan.

good day for FCD

Has everyone forgotten playoffs in
Houston. What a meltdown. I wanted best for him but, He is his worst enemy

yes, the playoff game in Houston sucked... AA was stupid in that game. C-YA!

Best of luck Arturo. Those of us who really know the game are going to greatly miss you. You are one of the most talented young players in the league with an incredibly bright future. You'll be playing in Europe sooner rather than later. Enjoy the fantastic fans of San Jose. At least they'll appreciate you.

I was afraid they might get rid of him, I was hoping he would get out of his funk but oh well, best of luck artie

I think Arturo is a highly talented individual. He seems to have struggled and lost a step this year.. so a trade to new pastures is probably a very good thing for him and FCD.

Good luck Arturo! (Except when you play FCD)

When he is on, Alvarez is great. Problem is he hasn't been on for quite some time. Good luck to you, man.

AA basically lost a mls cup chance for FC Dallas with his red card kick in the corner. He should have been kicked off then for being so stupid.

artie have fun in san jose i know you will do good bc your going to be happy and when this kid is happy he can do some damaged!!! see you soon when a play dallas at home!! dont score on us!!

Really?

Typically the European clubs like to recruit players that know how to use both of their feet.

SJ dealt AA to FCD because he was "unhappy" there. Not sure why he thinks this time will magically be better.

AA IS a talent; but a "non-hard working" one. Talent alone does not win you anything. THAT is a big reason why he is here and not with the Oly team.

I really do wish that he would have learned how to be a complete pro player. Oh well......

Man we rip everyone who is having a bad year.

Good luck AA. hope what ever ws the problem that you are able to get it worked out and back to playing creative soccer.

Goodbye, Arturo!
We'll miss your abs. We'll miss your awesome legs. Too bad you never learned to be consistent and use your right leg. We hope you'll have better success developing your potential, instead of your hairstlyes.

Love always, FC chick.

Good luck in the reserve games

can't wait to chant dallas reject to him cuz that is what he is. Let him suck it up in SJ. He is there slacker now. Smell you later AA you are worthless. And play in Europe? HA never in his life.

Why don't we just rename FC Dallas F. C. SMU, new mascot Mustangs and continue to populate with x-SMU players. What a narrow focus this town has about its futbol! When is the last time an SMU futbol team made it to Nationals? And why do we want SMU throw offs? I will look elsewhere for good play and coaches that want to develop players who don't have a connection to SMU or local money.

Buenos suerte en San Jose Mr. Alvarez. I hope he does not come back to haunt FC Dallas.

What makes you more qualified? I think everyone's comments make a lot more sense than what you just said. One-foot, no work ethic, overpaid... this guy had the oppurtunity to be great and he blew it here and probably will in SJ

that D magazine article was awesome, i was gonna bring up Kennedy, taht dude is creepy

Alvarez almost played in Europe...he recently tried out with Bordeaux in France. Not everyone has an English (Cooper) or Italian (Ricchetti) passport. I have to agree that Alvarez has a better chance than most players in this league of going to Europe. Just because you only play in the MLS doesn't mean that your career was a bust.

I can see where it would be extremely difficult to be motivated to play for a team who can't select quality coaching staff, fires what they have at will, and requires you subscribe to the Kenny Cooper show. And we wonder why players are so self concerned and not team oriented? He should have gone to Bordeaux when he had the chance. A second team on the European continent would have been far preferable to a senior squad with coaching troubles in the U. S. I hope he is given another opportunity in Europe or South America - it would be a horrible waste of talent to stay in the States. And go play for El Salvador's national team since that U23 coach? couldn't see talent when it was in front of him geeeeeezzzz. How far do you think the USofA will get with what they have now?

This is enough for me for one year. This team has seen the last of my support. Let me know when you get another creative left foot you actually utilize (what a GOOD coach could do).
