From the front office...

We've received and answered questions from the media about both Kenny Cooper and Juan Toja. However, we continue to see inaccurate reports on various internet sites.

Yes we have received offers for Juan Toja and Kenny Cooper, and other players as well. Nothing has been finalized with any of them. It's a tribute to the players on this team, and the growth of the league when foreign clubs are watching the talent that plays in our league.

Last week, there were internet stories that erroneously reported that Toja had been sold. That never happened. Media that has asked any of us that are actually involved had the right story.

Toja never told any member of the media that the teams had agreed to terms, and was visibly frustrated when he was told that such a quote was attributed to him. Now, we have media reporting the Kenny Cooper is on his way to Europe. Which was news to him as he finished his recovery session and watched the reserve game on the adidas field this morning here at Pizza Hut Park.

Most fans and media understand that when there are any negotiations, it’s not common for teams to discuss those matters publicly. If anything gets resolved, we’ll be here to let you know, obviously when all the final i's are dotted and t's are crossed.

Thanks again for your support of FC Dallas.

I agree that most of the stories online are probably not that accurate, but when we can't get a straight answer from the FO what else are we supposed to think? It would be nice to hear some sort of comment from the FO declaring what (if any) the club commitment to Kenny is!

Well im glad that we at least got something from the Death Star! I think that is all that we as consumers want.

As far as what the clubs committment to Kenny is that is not realistic for us to know. Is it realistic for you to go to your boss and ask about the pay of your co-workers? What is realistic is for the FO to make every attempt to put the best product on the field. If they let Toja and Cooper go then we as consumers are right to question their intent.

So for now we swallow the Kaka (see the joke there :))that the FO is making us swallow in the hopes that they are going to be good stewards of OUR club. If they arent then we vote with our pocket books at renewal time.

Weren't the Mavericks saying they didn't want Jason Kidd and that they were just rumors. Funny cus it turned out the rumors were true. Now I hope that these are just rumors in this case but more often then not the rumors turn out to be true.

I'm hoping that the FO recognizes what they have in Kenny, and are doing everything they can to keep him in Dallas. If they can find $400,000 for Davino, they can find some money for Kenny.

I've been a season ticket holder for a few years, and will be very unhappy if they let Kenny go, then turn around and sign yet another international for big bucks.

Kenny...please stay!!!

Come on people. It is completely unreasonable to expect the FO to go public with the state of ongoing negotiations.

They've confirmed that something is going on with Toja and Kenny and that's all they should until something is final.

What do you want, liveblogging of the negotiations?

Where there is smoke, there is fire. And from my view, FCD is about to go up in flames if they don't get some talented replacements under the age of 30 during this window.

THANK YOU, F.O.!

This is all I ever wanted -- a statement that nothing is final (yet) -- given the wild reports that have been flying around and, especially, given that there were supposed "player interviews."

Juan and Kenny are my two favorite players. They are awesome players and wonderful people, and I wish only the best for them. My hope would be that they both stay at least through the end of this season. But stay or go, I will support them.

Yes, actually!

your lucky to get any blogging compared to those other sports, this is in depth or perhaps its the fact that the media will give training camp 3/4 of their broadcast leaving FCD with 10 seconds of footage from the best game of the year

Unless the FO has a better available option at striker, pay the man what he deserves and keep him.

I think the FO does a good job of getting information out to the fans (I may not like that information) but I feel like they keep us informed. Player transfers are like a game of Texas Hold'em, you have to keep your cards hidden, its enough for the FO to just let us know that they are playing. And, they have done that.

Thank-you for saying something. As they say "No news is good news".

Why do many of you think that all Cooper wants is money? Unless something like that comes out of his mouth, it's very disingenuous.

Unlike this non-story of ongoing negotiations, how did the reserve game end up?

Anonymous said...

A Wales report said Cooper had left on Monday to visit the training grounds when, in fact, I saw him at the reserve game.

Can the European media just make up anything they want without repurcussions?

I don't think all he wants is money. But if you're making $80 or $90k here and can make $1M+ in europe, which one would you pick? It's more about not undervaluing yourself.

IMO Kenny deserves DP money. He is our best player and certainly one of the best strikers in the league. BUT unfortunately only foreign players are offered the big bucks. I know the team has offered him just over $400,000 per year to stay in his hometown, and I hope that's enough to keep him, but it would be a shame if he left the team without being offered a DP salary. Who are we waiting for? Ronaldinho?

Stay Kenny. We need a hero.

Kenny is definitely worth a/the DP slot. If Landon Donavan can "command" such honors and salary, Kenny deserves that same respect. One would be hard pressed to find a striker in this league that works as hard, plays as hard, and is as humble. Kenny is the type of player one builds a franchise around.

I am hoping that this post by the FO indicates that they hear the fans and will take that into consideration during their negotiations.

Best of luck to all parties involved.

I agree. Dallas/MLS needs to do everything in its power to keep Kenny Cooper. If Reyna can get over a million from Red Bull NY, FCD needs to match ANY offer from Cardiff City or that Norweigen team. Period. No qestions asked. Why get some old, alcoholic, past your prime player like Ortega from Argentina that is gonna cost FCD $1-$2 MILLION when the Hoops could spend that money on the world class, young, humble, respectable, local boy, Dallas hero, fan favorite, Kenny Cooper????? It DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE!!!!

KEEP KENNY COOPER FC DALLAS - FRONT OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's interesting how everyone wants to bag the FO for not doing "whatever it takes to keep Kenny", but maybe Kenny doesn't want to stay here! I think Kenny is awesome, but he is 1 person on this roster. He is an amazing asset to us but we can, and will win, without him here

""He (Kenny Cooper) is an amazing asset to us but we can, and will win, without him here""

You dont know much about soccer do you?

Anonymous said...

I understand that it may have been news to Kenny - BUT the team did not say it was news to them ?

Anonymous said...

Hat's off the FO for giving us some info. You have increased your credibility by doing so !

Bloogers - I have it on a good source that this decision to speak to this issue was driven in part by the postings on this website. You might also notice that the blog has becone a little harder to find on the website. It no longer has a link to the "BLOG" you have to kind of hunt for it.
Might the fans be causing some pressure ? Could we be the ones turning up the heat ??
