River Plate...at Pizza Hut Park

We've been wanting to get this bit of news out to you for sometime, but we had to wait till it happened.

This morning, we are proud to welcome the leadership of one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world - Club Atletico River Plate from Argentina. River Plate VP Mario Israel and General Manager Alfredo Wodke arrived into DFW Airport today to meet with FCD General Manager Michael Hitchcock and continue discussing a potential partnership between both clubs.

As most fans know, FCD has many international players - including three that previously played for River Plate (Dario Sala, Pablo Ricchetti, and Juan Toja). In addition to the international players, we've made it known that we want to continue expanding our reach internationally, beyond our successful relationships with Clube Atletico Paranaense (Brazil) and Tigres (Mexico). We explained this potential opportunity to our friends from CAP, and they have been supportive of our discussions with another South American club.

Hitch and River Plate management have had various discussions and exchanges, and the next logical step was to take those talks and turn them into a face to face meeting. The invite was extended from both sides to visit the other, and timing made it more realistic for River to come here. Last week, River Plate held a party to celebrate winning this year's Clausura Championship - the clubs 33rd local title. This week, their leadership flew to Dallas!

Mr. Israel and Dr. Wodke will meet with Hitch today, then attend a Texas-style BBQ at Hitch's house tonight, along with our City and business leaders, our FCD/PHP management staff, and the FCD coaching staff. Tomorrow, they'll attend our game and post-game festivities. After spending a weekend getting to know Dallas, we'll meet again on Monday to see if we're close to finalizing a new partnership. Stay Tuned...

All right! Best news I've heard this season... Now, how long until the Dynamo partner with Boca Juniors?

Maybe we could swap GM's with Riverplate - "Here Hitch take this ticket - Yes I know it's only a one way ticket, we will call you when we are ready to come back - really we will - I promise."

This is rather impressive. I'd love to see some players from River Plate up here.

River Plate Norte! ;)

I'm a huge fan of both clubs, but has been struggling the last few years mostly due to the greed of the directors of the club. Last season there were huge protest against Jose Maria Aguilar, who is the president. He has made himself and his buddies a lot of money by selling of percentages of the rights to players to business investment groups.

How does this help us? We already have a good exchange with CAP but that has not given us better players and coaching from there. We already have good players from River Plate so I am not sure what the upside to this is (I am not saying there will be a down side either just curious). If someone knows or has a better understanding please share.

Awesome news! If it means a friendly in our Oven, then it helps me. Any chance they want to loan us Mighty Mouse?

Yeah, Hitch: let's talk loans while they're at your BBQ!

Socceroo,
Have you heard of ROCHA? He seems to be a key player this year. Why dont you ask Cooper if he likes the Rocha aquisition since most of his goals have come from his service on the right flank.

Cool! Next we move across the Rio de la Plata and make an alliance with Penarol!!!

Tuesday in the USOC x Miami, Rocha solved a crowded situation by making the kind of last-nanosecond, weird-angle pass that I thought only nifty Dax McCarty-types could pull off. I already knew he could cross and make good unpressured passes. He may kind of appear unathletic out there, but he's got skills! Assists equals good! imo

I guess you have not been paying attention to the excellent play of Andre Rocha.

This is outstanding news. Great job Hitch!! Get it done.

P.S. - Buonanotte is a spare and needs more PT, which he can get with FC Dallas!! :)

Hey Boca Suck it!

Yes agreed Anon, "Buonanotte is a spare". At just barely 5 foot tall, he is too small for Europe. But, as a gesture of good will in the the spirit of this new agreement, I'm sure Hitch would sacrifice a roster spot to rid River Plate of this little annoyance.

OK, PLEASE CAN WE HAVE MIGHTY MOUSE???

I like this, but anyone remember what happened the last time we had a bunch of visiting dignitaries? 5-1 loss and the manager was guillotined.

this seems to be just a moral coruption, a BBQ at Hitch's house? you'r kidding me,we don't need loans from this many teams, then why are we creating the junior class? so that they graduate to our reserve and going forward right? this man just wants to get confortable in his position.all these agreements are not necessary for us to get some players that we like. we need to groom our home based talents like Cooper, Dax,Oduro, raymond...Mls is at a point where now if you scout and like a player you buy him as they do in europe asia africa and the latines.look at what Carver of Toronto and Osorio just did for NY he scouted some players brings them in days ago and sign them simple! Hitch must go!!

I love this idea!
