Juan Toja Transferred to Steaua Bucuresti

Photo: Rick Yeatts / FC Dallas.
Late this afternoon, we here at the FCD Blog were able to witness Juan Toja signing off on the final document that sealed his transfer from FC Dallas to Romanian club Steaua Bucuresti.

With parties from three different countries involved, and documents being sent / read / translated in three different languages, it took some time. In the end, Juan was here at the stadium early this evening, signing the last document and faxing it in.

He cleaned out his locker, and said goodbye to the staff that was here. He then sat down for a quick interview with our FCD TV crew. He's got a lot to do tonight, and tells us he'll be here early on Saturday morning (8 am) to say goodbye to his (now former) teammates before they leave for Toronto. He will likely be on his way on Saturday as well.

Here's a little video tribute...enjoy...

NOTE: seem like we fixed the IE problem. All browsers should be working now.

Welcome to the big time that is European Football, good for you Juan. MLS continues to be Minor League Soccer and a developemental league to feed bigger leagues.

Stay classy, Juan diego.

If we had more players with your heart, we'd win trophies every year.

Gracias y adios, amigo.

When will we sell hitch for a bag of peanuts?

"When will we sell hitch for a bag of peanuts?" As soon as Dallas fans stop acting like babies who don't understand how the soccer market works. Meaning...it will be a long time.

Best of work juan.

It was a pleasure Toja. Every moment you stepped on that field, you brought so much talent. It was nice getting to know you and talk to you as well. You are a great person.

You were a Texas Star. It was a pleasure to have you here playing for FC Dallas.

Not sure really how to handle the thought of not seeing you on that field and hearing your name. Very sad to think about.

"Welcome to the big time that is European Football, good for you Juan. MLS continues to be Minor League Soccer and a developemental league to feed bigger leagues."

Uh, yeah, so is the league that he is going to, and so is the league Cooper is looking at going to (Norway).

Any league but PL, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, the exact same statement can be made to some degree on another.

MLS is not a world-class league but it is much better than it is given credit for. Just ask and listen to all the players and coaches that have played here or are coming here. Also, with more and more of the bigger leagues looking to MLS for talent, I think it is obvious MLS is a good football league.

Give it 10 years and it will be better than the Mexican league easily, and I am a big fan of the Mexican league.

MLS will never be anything but a developmental and feeder league - just like in Brazil, France, Portugal, Argentina, Norway, Romania, Scotland, etc., etc. Get it.....?

Anyway, felicidadas Juan, you have earned it and I hope to see you back at PHP with the Colombian national team playing a friendly. You will always be near and dear to FCD fans.

Thank you for playing for us and showing your class.

Juan was not having his best season - not from a lack of skill, but from a lack of team play and leadership. He is a very talented athlete, I wish him the best, and I pray to all of the soccer Gods that the Hunts wake up and get rid of Hitch before he totally destroys this team.
Cooper will be the next one gone - he will stay until the end of the season but Hitch will go DP some 40 year old forward from Iceland and let Coop slip away.

Trading both Toja and Alvarez only shows how new Hyndman is to FCD. Did anyone tell him that Alvarez played on the national team? Does he think that Avila can replace either of them? Despite Richetti and Rocha's pedigrees, those two were our best at slicing defenses and getting passes to our forwards.

he is one of the best players, i watched him on the net, and i think he will be the best.hhave all the qualities for a young star, he will play in uefa champions league, the greatest competition.i'm a steaua bucharest supporter

LIARS!!! They should have just straight out admitted they were trading him, so I could get emotionally prepared for this!! I don't know if I can handle not seeing him at the PHP. Good luck, Juan!! we lost one of our best player and a fan favorite!! Maybe now, he'll make it on the national team like he deserves!!!! We'll miss you, especially when we start getting killed down the center!
