Two weeks to go and three spots still up for grabs for the 2008 MLS Cup Playoffs, including one guaranteed place in the Western Conference. Remember, the top three teams from each conference automatically qualify, and then, the two teams that have the most points, regardless of conference.
Columbus, New England, and Chicago have claimed the top three positions in the East. Houston and Chivas USA have secured the top two positions in the West; which leaves Dallas, Colorado, Real Salt Lake, San Jose, and LA fighting for that third guaranteed spot.
Once that's filled, two additional teams will be looking to claim the final two 'wild card' spots. Add NY, KC and Toronto to the mix of the Western teams above - which means, with two weeks to, all nine remaining teams still have a chance of making the playoffs.
Here's how the table looks:
Columbus - 54 pts (2 games left; at NY; vs. DC)
Houston - 44 pts (3; vs. SJ, vs. LA; at Chivas)
Chicago - 43 pts (2; at TOR; vs. NY)
New England - 43 pts (2; at DC; vs KC)
Chivas - 42 pts (2; vs. COL; vs. HOU)
Kansas City - 36 pts (2; vs. SJ; at NE)
Kansas City - 36 pts (2; vs. SJ; at NE)
Real Salt Lake - 36 pts (2; vs. DAL; at COL)
New York - 36 pts (2; vs. CLB; at CHI)
=======================
FC Dallas - 35 pts (2; at RSL; at LA)
FC Dallas - 35 pts (2; at RSL; at LA)
Colorado - 34 pts (2; at CHV; vs. RSL)
DC United - 34 pts (2; vs. NE; at CLB)
Toronto FC - 32 pts (2; vs. CHI, at SJ)
LA Galaxy - 32 pts (2; at HOU; vs. DAL)
San Jose - 30 pts (3; at HOU, at KC, vs. TOR)
So, what do you think...

This week's game versus RSL is HUGE! I am betting that if either team wins it, that team is going to the playoffs and the other is not. But if it's a tie, who knows -- tons of other competition if we have to battle for a wild card spot.
Watch out because both NY and DC play teams that have already clinched and may be resting starters since the Supporters Shield is already clinched. As is often the case in MLS with those teams fighting for a last-minute playoff spot, one game may decide who is in and who is out. Letting 3 points slip away to only 1 could determine if we make the playoffs or miss them. Fight hard and play your best FCD! Looking forward to another Mission 360!
wow when i voted only a little more than half of us think were getting in. That poll should be more like 98% saying we are. Have faith Hoop fans
Believe in our team and we might just make it in.
oh....and Rocha won't be playing vs. RSL right? Who do you think will fill his spot? Personally I think it's going to take a lot more than the fans positive thinking to get through to the playoffs. If still feels like the preseason with no set line-up from game to game.....just my opinion though!
we win the tiebreaker vs RSL but lose against Colorado.
we can do it: 4 points in 2 games should be enough.
Prediction: 1-1 vs RSL
3-1 win for us against the loser Galaxies
we also win the tiebreaker against KC and NY....we tied both against KC and 1-1 against NY, but our goal differential is better than those two..right now we are 1-1 against RSL with better goal diff...but 0-2-1 against the friggin' rapids
Hopefully it will be Dax at Right Wing...maybe his best position. With luck, Sikora will be ready to go it on the left.
Off the subject... will there be a live feed for tomorrow's game against Tigres UANL??? If so thank you.
Also off this topic . . .
I wonder if our Brasilenos will be watching the WCQ game on Wednesday, where Brazil faces Colombia? If they do, they will see their former teammate starting for Colombia. He gets to face Saragosa's best friend (Kaka).
:)
We won't make it to the play offs
Schellas Hyndman about the Tigres game. "...I don't want our fans to think we're not putting out a good quality team. We're taking this game seriously." Hey Schellas, unless you've been under a rock, everyone including experienced soccer players and knowledgable fans not only think but KNOW that you're not fielding the best quality team or players in this so-called playoff run. Otherwise Davino, Saragosa and the coach's pet Bruno wouldn't be out there! We don't care about this game, aside from finally seeing Avi, Dax, Pitch on the field (hopefully Bobby Rhine, too).

Yes.
"We'll be providing a live and free webstream of the first team game on fcdallas.com, with the call from long-time FCD Spanish radio announcer Carlos Alvarado."
Schellas you moron - why we think you would take this game serious ? You have not taken a single game seriously since you got here
