BREAKING NEWS - FCD and Davino Part Ways

FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock announced today that the club and defender Duilio Davino have mutually agreed to end his contract with FC Dallas. FC Dallas will begin searching for a replacement center back, while Davino will explore opportunities to play in Mexico.

"Duilio is a great professional who has enjoyed a storied career," said Hitchcock. "He brought a great deal of experience and leadership to FC Dallas that will benefit our younger players for years to come. We wish Duilio all the best in the next chapter of his career."

I hereby take back 90% of everything bad I ever said about Hitch! THANK YOU!!!!!

Not to kick Hitch but Ithink that Schellas had much more to do with DD leaving. In his blunt way he probably told him to get out or sit the bench for all 2009!

Best of luck in the future, Davino.

Well now I might just have to renew my season tickets.. depending on who we bring in and what they do with Cooper

Money-wise this frees up some cash and helps set the stage for a January transfer window signing. We'll find out if the rumors about ZeRoberto coming here are rumors or not.

Also, just curious to see if they have the confidence for Pitch to step right in or if they are going to try someone else from the outside. He seemed to perform very well in Davino's absence.

Maybe Hitchcock threatened to do another wig night.

Well that is 2 DP's in a row that got the boot - and you take back what you said about Hitch ? Please - all this does is confirm that the problem is the front office.

Davino wasn't a DP.

Adios amigo. Thanks and good luck in Mexico

THANK GOD! HAPPY TO SEE DAVINO LEAVE! ANYBODY WHO KNOWS FUTBOL' KNOWS THAT PITCH PLAYED MUCH BETTER THAN DAVINO!

There is a Santa Claus! This news is a gift I am happy to receive. Thank you.

Actually, Davino ask to leave, not Hitch or SH. He has a 3 year contract in Mexico

Anonymous said...

Who cares why he is gone? Let's just all be glad he is gone!

Anonymous said...

He wasn't the DP - they were just paying him 800 grand because they could ?

Anonymous said...

so the 800 grand can go to Coop now or what????

Anonymous said...

Overpaid? Yes. Underappreciated? Yes.

Best of luck, Duilio. Unless we get some experience on the back line to replace you, we will soon see how much you brought to the team this year.

Adios!

maybe this move will solidify our backline, instead of one covering for the other much of the time. i have nothing against davino, but he was not right for our starting XI.

so, i guess i'm sorta mildly excited again to see what we can do w/ the little increase in cap space. would pablo oppose to playing CB while moving adrian to holding mid? i think that would be great.

Davino was maknig just shy of $400K; not $800K. Get your facts right before you go off.

Anonymous said...

davino made $400k and was NOT the team's DP.

check www.3rdegree.com/salaries.

Anonymous said...

Who was the DP ?

Anonymous said...

FCD did not have one. Teams are not oblgated to have a DP nor are they obigated to have a shirt sponsor.

davino would have made $800,000 for 2 years. that was his contract, and not 800,000 per year

I think the $800K was the total over 2 years if I recall correctly. I believe it was a 2-year deal at $400K/year. Good job, SH, or Hitch, or whoever made it happen.

YES THIS IS THE BEST NEWS I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG TIME!!!!!

Guys remember when i said that Davino was too soft for our backline, scared to be to be tackled, too small to intimidate oponnents people did not believe me. I'm not surprised at all with the move!

Anonymous said...

Again as i finished the very last blog minutes later Hitch appears in a stement with a logic of having a backline that is physical strong and intimidating these are very real factors in the game of soccer.you may ask Kenny C him as striker what can he expect if he faces defenders like Ferdinand of Man U, or Olave of Saltlake, or R Marquez of Mexico. These guys are strong and they tackle seriously either the ball or the oponnent. period!!! that's what we lacked with Davino.
