Yes, we know. The team stinks. It's a rebuilding year. And the coach isn't really committed to rebuilding. A bunch of players are injured, and some aren't the right fit. We've lost a bunch of heartbreaking games. And we're going to lose a bunch more.
But... Come on YOU HOOPS!
Hmmmm - rebuilding ? That's an excuse not a fact. SH has coached 30 games. He had the opportunity to go out and get new players halfway through that 30 game run.
Last season was rebuilding. The off season was rebuilding. We should in a position to actually compete at this point, and we are not. Schellas does not have an eye for talent. Schellas does not understand the game at this level, and Schellas can never admit he is wrong. Schellas lacks the ability to be a leader. As long as he is here, this team will function at the bottom of the barrel.
6 Wins
12 Losses
12 Ties
Wow after a year he still can't pronounce the name of the best player in MLS.
Anyways, I think we need to start getting some wins at home, at least to somewhat salvage the season. I don't want the '09 Hoops to go into the history books for the wrong reasons. And who knows...since we haven't been mathematically eliminated we still have a chance.
He is a moron - but a smart moron. He convinced the Hunts to give him a guaranteed contract after he has been unproven at this level. That makes the Hunt's even bigger morons. If they are morons though - what does that make those of us that bought tickets to this ???
^^^
Not to sound more cynical than you, but you may be underestimating the Hunts. Look...they do not give a rat's butt about winning, they only care about profits. Profit margins are more important than gross revenue with increased fan attendance (and a winning team) and here is why....
RISK.
Believe it or not, to spend bigger money to get a top level coach who is a proven winner, and to sign top players, is a big risk. A LOT of fans have to show up to the games and buy jerseys and other crap in order to make up for the outlay of cash. If attendance averages only go up to say....13,000 instead of the 8,500 they are now, you actually LOSE profit margin and total profit dollars.
Shellas was then, the perfect man for the Hunts. He is a loyal personal friend, and he comes to the team at a bargain, locked in price. Do you think that a coach like Dominic Kinnear would put up with the HSG's cheap bullshit?
Here is a sobering fact...
Of the ten worst average attendance numbers for MLS clubs, HSG is responsible for 5 of them, and this year's FC Dallas numbers will add a 6th time to that list, perhaps flirting with being the worst attendance of them all, because we are close to Southlake attendance numbers!
So to address your speculation...the Hunts make a ton of money for themselves, so from their point of view, they are happy. They would be happy turning PHP into a concert venue if necessary.
Sports fan = Winning is happiness.
HSG = Money in their own wallet is happiness.
It is really that simple.
So now I will poke fun at myself. Paying nearly $2,000 for a pair of season tickets in the best seats at PHP makes me a SUCKER. It turns me into HSG's fool; Clark and Dan's b*tch, because they have no intention whatsoever on ensuring a quality product in exchange, nor guarantee me that FC Dallas will at least be competitive in the league.
At least the blame is starting to get switched from the players to the people it really should be on, the coach and the people who hired the coach
LETS GO SCHLOTTO!!!!
