Preview: FCD vs. Houston Dynamo

FC Dallas' (2-6-4, 10 pts) rivals from down south, the Houston Dynamo (7-2-3, 24 pts), visit Pizza Hut Park tomorrow for Fox Soccer Channel's game of the week, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. CT. It's the second meeting of the season, with the Dynamo claiming the first 1-0 at Robertson Stadium a little over a month ago. Dallas is coming off a 2-2 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes last Sunday and a 2-0 friendly win over CS Herediano Wednesday night. The Dynamo also played Wednesday night, defeating league-leading Chivas USA 1-0 in Houston.
The winner of the regular season series is awarded El Capitan, the cannon that serves as the official trophy of the Texas rivalry. Dallas must win the remaining two regular season games against Houston (June 13, August 6 - both at PHP) to assure itself of retaining the trophy. In the event of a tie in head-to-head and goal differential, the result of an MLS Cup Playoff game will be necessary to determine the winner. Why do we have to win both remaining games? Do the clubs count the preseason loss as well?
We need to win both in order to win El Capitan outright. If FCD gets a win and a draw, then we keep El Capitan, unless we lose to Houston in the playoffs
I am anxious to see how our improved line-up fares against the hottest team in MLS tomorrow.
I will remain as optimistic as possible given the considerable challenge that lies ahead for the hoops.
The last game at Robertson was El CRAPitan, and we hardly had any ball possession. I think we will perform much better in this game, but to have a chance at all, we need a huge game from Cooper, Ferreira, Shea, Dax, etc. and our defense headed up by Pablo has to stay consistently strong. In the first game, Ferriera was owned. I hope he was able to gain some lessons from this experience and adjust accordingly.
Hopeful line-up (similar to the 4-1-4-1 line-up, but adding Shea as second striker). We have to remain a constant offensive threat in this one or we will pay the price.

Robert, I like your lineup, and I think you'll see it in the second half of this one. We're gonna need Shea to step it up another notch to have any chance in this one.
I'm gonna say 1-1 draw - Cunningham goal in the first half with the Shea assist. That'll lead up to our big win in the final game.
MLS web site has recognized Eric Avila as an MLS W.O.R.K.S. player of the month for his work at the Dallas Zoo. Way to go!!!
In the previous three games, Houston has outscored its opponents 5-0. Of that, the previous two games they won each by a score of 1-0. That tells me that they can hold a lead and are very strong defensively. Last weeks' win was without Ricardo Clark or Brian Ching so the team as a whole has stepped up. Hopefully FCD can break Houston's winning streak.
And I am hoping the field is repaired in time for this nationally televised game on FSC.
