Voluntary Workout

Tuesday was officially an off day for the team, but Schellas Hyndman informed the group that he would be willing to run some drills for anyone interested in getting an extra workout in. Participating in today's session were Kenny Cooper, Drew Moor, Jeff Cunningham, Brek Shea, Peri Marosevic, Michael Dello-Russo, Bruno Guarda and Josh Lambo. The workout lasted a little over an hour with the drills focusing mainly on crossing and finishing. The full squad will return to the practice field tomorrow at 9:30 am.

  • It was Bruno's first extensive work with the ball since injuring his right ankle on May 23 against the LA Galaxy.
  • Also in attendance today were league pool goalkeeper Bryant Rueckner and Scottish trialist Tom Parratt.
  • Parratt is a 23-year-old right-sided player who most recently was a member of Hamilton Academical FC of the Scottish Premier League. He joined FCD for training on Monday and is expected to be here for the remainder of the week.
  • Andre Rocha also came in today, running on Field 4 on his own for about 30 minutes.

So will Grandpa Urine throw all the players who didn't attend his "voluntary" workout under the bus with the media?

I can't even get into the mind of Grandpa Urine, so I have no clue what's he's thinking. But I'd also like to think that if I were a player on this stinking team, that I would have shown up for the voluntary workout at this point, so I'm a little disappointed as a fan although I knew many would not show up.

As far as Tom Parratt, anyone know if FCD would be looking at him at right midfield in addition to right back?

Proof positive to me that the problem is not just the coach - the players deserve blame as well.

I made a comment earlier in the season about Rocha and someone blasted me over it. Think I'm lying now? The guy is dragging the team down and needs to go back to Brazil.

Call me Mr. Optimist if you will...

I think the major problem with Rocha is his fitness....so him running on an off day sounds like a pretty good thing to me. Even if it is only for 30 minutes.

I run 30 minutes after I work 8 hours a day at a job that pays me less than half of what he makes. Put me on the team.

To quote the great Troy Hambrick
"What do voluntary mean?"

Ah, Troy Hambrick. The role model all underachieving players should look up to.

Agree with you Harlan! I think it's a good sign that the forwards who are having problems finishing all came out today. I am just surprised that Captain Clueless SH made this a voluntary training. He obviously feels very secure in his job... makes me a little sick!

You cannot blame the players for not showing up. With SH they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. The players have NO respect for him.

this team may have the talent necessary to go all the way but without a coach that respects the players, and players that respect the coach, htere is no hope.

Where was Avi?

giggshasscored said...

Avi was probably playing Pro Evolution Soccer on XBox360.

the wiki says that Parratt last played in the Scottish league 1 for Queen of the South and was released by them in January. Did the FO bend the truth a little in saying that he last played for Hamilton in the SPL?

Not sure they bent the truth about him being on the team. Sounds like he sucked though.
Interesting the uniforms look a lot like the HOOPS ! Clearly there is a connection because no one in the FO has any independent thought,
Can ANYONE tell me PLEASE - were youth teams recognized at Half Time of the Houston game ? There was suppossed to be a recognition at half time for the top youth teams in the area. Can anyone PLEASE confirm if that occurred ?

of course the youth team recognition occurred.

Parratt grew up in Iowa

Why are we inviting pool goalkeepers?

Anonymous said...

maybe because if ray gets injured, we are suddenly down to 1 healthy goalkeeper.
