FCD 1, Houston Dynamo 3
UPDATE (Post-game): With FC Dallas already down 2-0 at the half, Houston's Cam Weaver scored his second goal of the night in the 63rd minute, effectively putting the game out of reach. Drew Moor got one back for FCD five minutes later, but Dallas' attempt at a comeback fell short and the game ended 3-1. Weaver's first came 12 minutes into the match and former Dallas midfielder Richard Mulrooney added one in the 37th minute. The result snaps FCD's four-game unbeaten run, and it was the team's first home loss since March 29 vs. Chivas USA. A full recap is available at FCDallas.com.
Game Notes:
• Dallas is now 1-3-3 at Pizza Hut Park after suffering its first home defeat since March 29 versus Chivas USA.
• The loss snaps Dallas’ four-game unbeaten streak. The team had not lost since a 1-0 decision at Houston on May 9.
• FCD is now 1-7-5 all-time versus the Houston Dynamo and 1-2-3 against Houston at Pizza Hut Park.
• The result assures the Dynamo of winning the regular season series, meaning El Capitan, the cannon that serves as the trophy between the clubs, will head to Houston following the 2009 season. Dallas currently holds the cannon after winning the 2008 series.
• Drew Moor tonight scored his third goal of the year, heading in a feed from Eric Avila. It was the defender’s third goal of the season, a career high. It was also Moor’s third career goal against the Dynamo, matching his personal best against an opponent (LA Galaxy).
• It was the second assist of the year for Avila, matching his career high set during the 2008 season.
• Cunningham, now in his 12th MLS season, today made his 300th career regular season appearance. Only nine players in league history have appeared in more games than Cunningham. Additionally, it was the 200th start of his career.
• Kyle Davies made his MLS debut tonight, starting in central defense alongside team captain Pablo Ricchetti.
• Four Dallas players have now started all 13 regular season games: Kenny Cooper, Dave van den Bergh, David Ferreira and Drew Moor. Moor and Ferreira have played every minute this year.
• Cooper tonight extended his league record of consecutive starts by a forward to 45, dating back to the 2007 season.
• Van den Bergh left the match in the 79th minute with a right ankle injury. He was replaced by Marcelo Saragosa.
• Six Dallas players sat out tonight’s game due to injury: goalkeeper Dario Sala (left knee), midfielders Bruno Guarda (right ankle) and Alvaro Sanchez (right ankle), and defenders Steve Purdy (right knee), Daniel Torres (right hamstring), and George John (right hamstring).
• FC Dallas will remain at Pizza Hut Park for the last of its three-game home stand next Saturday, June 20 against defending MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew (7:30 p.m. CT live on Fox Soccer Channel).

1-3. Another loss at home.
FC Dallas cannot finish a sandwich, let alone their goal chances, and they had plenty of them. Conversely, give Houston a chance, and they burn you. Dallas had plenty of possession and some creativity at times, but were out-muscled and out-coached by the Dynamo. Houston is a disciplined squad. They play together as a seamless unit, unlike FC Dallas, whose squad has gone through endless musical chairs not only in terms of players but formations.
The third goal Houston scored was especially annoying, as Shellas Hyndman subbed out Anthony Wallace--who was one of the best on the field for the Hoops, leaving chaos and gaping holes at left back. Houston took advantage immediately. Awful coaching.
Kenny Cooper might as well have stayed home. He was about as much of a factor in the game as I was in the stands. The hog defenders of Houston log-jammed him every time KC made a touch, and when he pressed, they just knocked him off the ball.
Putting Brek Shea on the field made a noticeable difference, and the Hoops created some chances because of his pressure, but it was too little, too late, and ultimately, not nearly enough to get the job done.
The referee was not very sharp, missing at least three hand balls, but that is MLS for you...inconsistent, amateur referees.
FC Dallas is in last place because they belong there. It is painful for me to say this, but it is true.
What he said!
What do you want the coach to do? FCD was down 2-0 at the time he took Wallace out. They need to try to get back into the game...didn't matter if they lose 3,4, or 5 at that point. They needed to get a goal..for goodness sake you guys can't say anything positive about your team, some actual support would be good for a change. At the end of the day, the players simply aren't there to win a championship, so support them as they build to get there.....Seems like Tom Landry was almost run out of town in his early years in Dallas, but had an owner that stood by him, and that seemed to work out pretty well in time.
Same three subs. Even when he should have been the last player off the bench, here comes Saragosa......
I realize Avila got the assist on the goal, but man he is overhyped.
What a pathetic offensive attack. Not just tonight, but all season.
Someone please check KC's testosterone level!
Right on Robert.
Bottom Line
HYNDMAN MUST GO!!!!!!!!
Coach lost the game for us, bottom line, not the players but coaching,,,again...
You cant win with only 6 guys committed to defending. Wallace & MCarty were below average. They gave to many balls away. Glad to see Davies play. Brek seems to more dangerous than Cooper. David needs to finish.
coach put the team together over the winter and for that he should be held accountable. The players lost by not hustling out wide & not finishing when the had their chances.
Too bad VDB went down, don't usually like him but with the team that was on the field before he got hurt there was alot more movement of the ball. Cooper fell down way too many times...Ferreira is too short to be a threat on goal...Brek mixed it up, good job...I thought Avi did pretty good with the ball, nice assist. At least he got the ball in front of the net. I think Rocha is a waste. Midfielders need to move on offense and defense. I agree that the last goal was because Wallace was out, there was noone on that side on defense and noone rotated back. The announcers talked about how much more cohesive the houston team was, that's because they play together all the time, their coach isn't constantly at this late date shuffling the players to different formations and positions. Hyndman sucks....
oh....and these are MY opinions, if you don't agree that's fine. There's no need to bash me for them. Thanks :)
another loss in front of a another small crowd at home, what else is new? Thanks to the Houston fans for filling up the stadium more than usual and bringing a bit of zany atmosphere which I enjoyed.
We've been pointing fingers (including me) at the coach and at certain players these past two seasons. But the thought has occurred to me that the "finger-point-of-shame" should go directly to the owners for putting this team together. Bottom line, you are selling a product. If you want more people to spend what little discretionary money they have on your product, then give us a better reason than what is currently on the field.
You either care about winning or you don't. Like or hate Mark Cuban and Jerry Jones, but at least they wanted to win and did what it took to make winners out of losing teams. When they were able to provide a winning product, people started buying. Then look what happened; new stadiums/arenas, national and international recognition, etc. I realize MLS is under different financial constraints but you get the point.
In conclusion, I will say this to the owners:
I am a fan and have been to several games over the years. You are fortunate that people such as those of us on the message boards care enough to take the time to write. So please recognize what we recognize; that this team we care about is broken and needs to be fixed. And if you don't care enough to fix it, perhaps the people won't care enough to support you. It's your choice.
This has been written by a frustrated but still hopeful/supportive fan.
Be careful FCD....your fans are turning from anger to apathy and that is a very bad thing.
Hitch needs to go this week.
Apathy is the perfect word... All i can say is.. meh. Same song second verse...
The truth of it is, we were going to have this conversation whenever the next loss came...whether it was last night or three games from now.
Apathy is right. It's difficult for even the most supportive of us out here. We've been trying to stick up for the FO and Schellas and the team, but it's getting difficult. There are definitely some holes in this ship that need to be to be taken care of. That's all I can say.
To Texan,
You said: "What do you want the coach to do? FCD was down 2-0 at the time he took Wallace out."
It is not that I disagree with the decision to remove a man from the backline and insert an attacking player. What upset me was how easily--and quickly--Houston was able to exploit the change because FC Dallas was a disorganized mess. As a result, a completely unmarked Cam Weaver came in on the left-center of the box with no one around him for yards.
Texan...nobody wants to say positive things about the Hoops more than I do. We had many strong chances to score but only succeeded once. Houston had less possession, and fewer chances than we did, but good teams take advantage of the mistakes and the opportunities given them, and poor teams do not.
My beloved Hoops are just not a good team. Poorly coached, disorganized, too many small players for the MLS style of play, and lacking in creativity to score.
Hitch is not the issue, the coach is the person making player and formation decisions. Ownership is approving every player move, thus taking on the responsibility for everything that happens. If Hitch goes, nothing changes!!! Players arguing with the coach during the game is a pretty good sign the locker room is the issue and needs to be fixed. Isn't there a person at Hunts Sports Group now running the show? Where is his blame in this? Nobody knows him and he can cowardly sit back and make decisions without anyone in the public knowing.........hmmmm
I agree with Harlan 100%
usaually there are about 40 or 50 comments after a game. The fact that there are less than 20 shows that the fan base is starting to give up. Beware of the other cities who dont have teams looking to move old teams into their city. Then you will have nothing to complain about.
Its just getting frustrating to watch this team. We had plenty of chances to score and didn't do it. The team came out and I really believed we were going to win, even after the first goal was scored. I have no idea if this team can turn this around, but I'm guessing they wont.
At one point i saw SH arguing with Rocha while play was on. What an embarassement!! Houston fans took control of the stadium and controled us, the houston players locked us in our own home and dictated us, I mean in our home!!!
what the hell is going on here??? now i think this all team needs to go as well as this lousy management.
The atmosphere in the stands certainly was a bit more vibrant at this game -- especially with the face-off between the supporters groups near the goal (finally some passion in Dallas!!), but an announced attendance of 8,580 against your rival on a clear Saturday night?! Yikes!!!
Using the attendance figures from the FC Dallas website over the 7 MLS home games this season, that brings the average attendance this year to 8,770 per game (with a big boost from the Home Opener vs. Chicago at 15,905). Not good. Something big must change soon.
Noone seems to know their role on this team. When Wally was subbed off there was obvious confusion in the back, palms up "what do we do now" kind of confusion. FCD lacks a true offensive threat in my humble opinion, and lacks the size and toughness to compete in MLS. David, Dax, and Avi are just to slight. Tom, while also not very big seemed much stronger on the ball, its a shame he got injured. KC falls down way too easily for a man his size. I agree getting rid of Hitch will not change anything, he basically has no responsibility whatsoever anymore anyway. And if you are going to sub Saragosa in I hope to see him wreck someone...I am cynical that way.
Hey FO.... this loss is all yours! When was the last time the owner sat in the stands and heard how frustrated the supporters are?! Talented team... dubious coach... useless management! No wonder we aren't winning!
Right now we don't have the team or the coaching. I'll still be at every game, but it's clear that the season is probably over for us. I sure hope the house is cleaned up starting Monday morning.
There is no doubt anger is now turning into apathy. Even the guy that constantly updates SH's record is no longer coming on here to annoy us.
I used to not care about politics, until one of my college professors told me this:
So much attention is paid to agressive reactions such as anger, cruelty, greed with all their tragic effects, that too little attention is paid to passive reactions such as apathy, which in the long run can have a more devastating effect.
6 Wins

Everyone should go be fans of the Texas Outlaws. They are the new indoor team who play at NYTEX Arena over in NRH. They are looking to take over from where the Sidekicks left off. It's cheaper, and bound to be more exciting than what FCD is throwing on the field right now. txoutlaws.com
The players are miserable.
The fans are miserable.
Both true.
None of that counts. This exists for only one reason. Schellas played nurse maid to one of the Hunt's while he was at SMU and they are paying him back for changing his diaper and wiping his nose. There is no other reason Schellas has a job and the Hunt's could care less about what you think, what the players think, what the 8500 people that showed up think, all they care about is taking care of Schellas.
My wife and I talked about going to this game when we realized at the last minute we had the time free to go.
We were unable to get in touch with the ticket sales team and just can't justify spending the $80 it would have taken for us to take the two kids we had with us to the game. $80 for four tickets is too much in the current economy, especially considering the product on the field. The front office needs to do something about this fast. $5 or $10 tickets on the east sideline would be far better. Who would pay more than $20 a ticket to broil on the sunny side of the stadium?! The empty seats are bad enough on their own, but on tv they look even worse.
complain about 20 bucks a ticket? wow. that's cheap...
OK ericJ, you cough up $80 to broil in the sun and watch us play badly.
I usually pay more than that to go to Rangers games and I am not a Rangers fan. I also have to drive farther to go to Rangers games. We used to attend 4-5 matches per season at PHP, but I have had to take a pay cut and $80 seems like too much to pay to sit in the heat and watch a bad product on the field.
Looking at the attendance figures I am not alone in my opinion. FCD has the lowest per game attendance this season in MLS.

I have to agree with Army of Dad in this instance...and I think that most people agree.
The problem, and this has been said multiple times, is that the Hunts are comparing this franchise to the Mavs or Cowboys...when they should be comparing it to the Roughriders. Even the Rangers have cheaper tickets.
I don't even have kids...but I live in South Fort Worth. It's tough for me to drive over an hour, pay $40+ dollars, and see a losing product. I've been doing this for a long time. At the very least, endline tickets have to be cut down.
Same three subs. Even when he should have been the last player off the bench, here comes Saragosa......
